DIY Floral Envelope Cushion|| Makeover Sunday's..

floral, cushion, diy, budget, home, bedroom, decor

So I have literally been decorating my room for the last 5 weeks, and yes I'm still living out of my suitcase, since I returned from university. It's been such a long process, I though it would be as simple as painting some walls. Little did I know the horrors hidden beneath my yellow Victorian wallpaper.

Having never decorated before I thought it would be so easy to find bedroom decor on a budget. I was sadly mistaken when I found the price for a nice fluffy cushion was in the range on £10 to £20. ( now that is daylight robbery).

Being a student and knowing the value of money (after living off tinned beans for a week), I decided to be savvy and attempt my own cushion cover from bits lying around my house.
Here is how I got on:

I have to admit I didn't end up measuring anything as it was becoming so frustrating and I hate numbers. So I literally just wrapped my cushion with the material, leaving 2 inches around the edges for sewing. Then I just sewed away, and for a lot of guess work it turned out pretty cute.
I ended up doing an envelope cushion, so I'm able to change the covers all year round. If you would like a more detailed review there are lots of tutorials on YouTube.

So here you have it, an ultra cute, floral (vintage) cushion. I think it adds a really warm feel to my simple minimalistic, white and black room. I'm currently using mine for my dressing chair, but I'll be making more to jazz up my bed. This literally cost me £2 which was the price of the material ( enough to make 4 cushions). Remember to check out your local fabric shops for fun patterns or even use some old bed sheets.

I'm going to be doing a DIY post every Sunday, hence the name Makeover Sundays :)

If you try this DIY tip, then please let me know how it turned out. Happy sewing!!

Cheers To The New Year

Happy New Year Everyone!!
I kept mine a quiet one and shared it with someone special. Went to the most amazing Thai Restaurant EVER (I didn't want to leave). Then I went to church (always the best way to see in the new year) and saw a few fireworks.
I've made a few resolution (wont bore you with them) for this year and I cant wait to share my journey with you. I'm so hopeful for the year ahead.
How did you spend yours??

Did You Miss Me...?

Hey Dolls,

Yes I know its been too long. But let me tell you, being a Law student IS NOT EASY! I've been so hung up with coursework and assignments that I haven't really had time to blog.

But its CHRISTMAS!!!!! Really glad for the little break I have before the rush of exams *hides face*

I hope you've done all your Christmas shopping (because I sure haven't). I'm cutting it very short this year, but i'll be sure to post some of the things I bought.

Have you noticed the blog name change..? I wasn't feeling the old one anymore!!

Let me leave you with a little picture a friend took of me, I was feeling totally fierce in the cold weather *giggles*

Until next time...

I'm Not Closing The Book, Just Turning The Page..

Hey dolls,

Just a quick update, I know I've been slacking with the posts.

1) Moved into a new house ready for second year of university, Its actually really nice, trying to make it warm and cosy at the moment, my room is a mess, still haven't unpacked.

2) Had a job interview at Kurt Geiger and i GOT THE JOB.  I'm so excited to work there, the discount makes me even happier.

3) Decided to cut my hair, it funny how something so simple can change the way you feel and look at yourself. I just got the scissors and chopped it, it turned out way better than I expected. Still trying to get use to it though.

Change is essential. Let go and don't look back.

Take care
